Adventure Zone
Adventure Zone in Carmichael is a family/teen area full with an indoor mini-golf course, laser tag and video games. It features team-building and overnight lock-ins for teenagers. But is it a good place to take a preschooler?
Advantages for Preschoolers
Indoor mini golf has only 9 holes, perfect for the first opportunity of miniature golf.
Mini golf games are tiered by times so you shouldn’t have a long line behind you if your preschooler needs some extra time at each of the holes.
Video games. Need to keep your preschooler busy while you wait for an older sibling? Video games such as car racing and pinball may do that.
Disadvantages for Preschoolers
The indoor mini golf looks really cool. It’s a black-light game where everything glows. However, some of the images of dinosaurs and monsters on the walls may be intimidating for younger preschoolers.
Younger preschoolers may have more fun swinging their golf clubs around, making this a potentially dangerous afternoon, depending on the preschoolers.
Strollers will have difficulty making it around the video games.
Many of the video games are violent and younger preschoolers will have difficulty reaching the controls.
Preschoolers of all ages can easily become overwhelmed at the game of laser tag. When my family and I went, there were many teens in the laser tag arena, and I wouldn’t let my boys play. Unless it is a very slow day, I would not recommend a game of laser tag for preschool-aged children.
The building is run down—the floor covering has bubbled up and when we went on a rainy afternoon, the roof leaked in many places. In addition, the video games are worn and seen better days.
