In the Spotlight

If your preschooler likes trains, your preschooler will love the Railroad Museum.

Miwok Park
Take your prechooler to Miwok Park in Elk Grove.
Funderland
Funderland is a permanent amusement park at William Land Park, built for younger children. The rides are similar (though one step up) to the rides you’d see at a state or county fair. Pony rides are available in front of Funderland on many of the weekends, weather permitting.
Advantages of Funderland for Preschoolers:
The Park Itself
The park is small (only ten rides) so preschoolers aren’t likely to be overwhelmed like they can be at the Boardwalk or Disneyland. In addition, the park is designed so it would be hard for you to loose your preschoolers.
The park is well-maintained and reasonably clean.
Snack Bar
There’s a snack bar with kid-friendly snacks such as popcorn, French fries and churros. The prices are at or below movie theatre prices.
The Rides
Most of the rides are appropriate and amusing for preschoolers, especially rides like the train.
If preschoolers are willing, most of the rides are fun and safe for preschoolers to go on by themselves, provided they meet the height requirements.
The lines for most of the rides are covered, a big advantage during the hot Sacramento summers.
Free Admission
Admission is free, and each ride only costs one ticket to ride.
Birthday Party Options
Funderland offers lots of great birthday party options. Please see the website for more information.
Disadvantages of Funderland for Preschoolers
Snack Bar
There are no healthy snacks at the snack bar. In addition, due to the proximity of the Sacramento Zoo, none of the drinks (except for the souvenir cups) come with straws and lid.

The Rides
There are only ten rides at this park, so an unlimited ride all wrist band may be a waste if your preschooler is only interested in going a few rides.
A few of the rides such as the Dragon Coaster and Himalaya may be too intense for some preschoolers.
The Lines
On spring weekends and during the summer, the lines for rides may be long.

The Cost
With each ride costing nearly two dollars to ride per person, Funderland can quickly become expensive, especially if you are planning on going to the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town.
If adults wish to ride, it will cost you one ticket per ride.
Things not to Forget:
Always bring water, or consider buying drinks at the snack bar during the hot Sacramento summers. Consider wearing sunblock, sunglasses and broad brimmed hats to prevent sunburn.
Parking
You can park on the street, but it may be easier on your preschooler to park in the large parking area behind Fairytale Town.
