The Discovery Museum Science and Space Center
The Discovery Museum’s Science and Space Center is a great place to introduce preschoolers to science and nature. At the Discovery museum your preschooler can watch a planetarium show and see rescued, wild animals. There’s also an outdoor area with plenty of trees, lots of grass, a seating area for classes and a fenced pond with wild turtles and frogs. All the exhibits are clean and in good working order.

Crocker Art Museum
The Crocker Art Museum is a great Sacramento preschool destination for your older preschooler. At the Crocker Art Museum, your preschooler can get a taste both for the art the Crockers collected in Europe in the mid 1800s, and for modern art such as an Ansel Adams exhibit.    Photo © Theresa Halvorsen

California State Railroad Museum
Does your preschooler like trains? If so, the California State Railroad Museum is a perfect preschool destination in Sacramento for them. At the Railroad Museum, your preschooler will have a chance to see what the inside of a train engine looked like, or what riding in the passenger car of a train felt like. They can also see and play with a giant Thomas the Train set and an electric train exhibit on the second floor of the museum.
