Sacramento Recreation - A Sacramento Kings Game

Over the last twenty years, the Sacramento Kings have gone from one of the worst teams in the league to one of the better teams. Many Sacramento residents are big fans of the Kings and enjoy going to games at Arco Arena. But is a King’s game at Arco Arena a good place to take a preschooler?

Advantages a Sacramento King’s Game

Your preschooler is likely to be familiar with basketball, especially if they have a small basketball hoop in their front or backyard.

Kings t-shirts, logos and other paraphernalia are everywhere in Sacramento, and your preschooler may enjoy seeing what all the fuss is about.

Arco Arena is a fairly small arena, as these things go, and there aren’t many poor seats.

There’s music played constantly during the games and your preschooler may enjoy dancing in their seats.

During time outs, half-time and other breaks, there are often amusing games on the floor, like bowling with Slamson the mascot.

Sacramento crowds are very loud and your preschooler may get a kick out of yelling, clapping and stomping their feet along with other fans.

Snacks at Arco Arena are at movie theatre prices - which are cheaper than many professional sports

The high seats are fairy cheap

Disadvantages of a Sacramento King’s Game

Most games are in the evenings, and will go way past most preschooler’s bedtimes.Buy at Art.com

You and your preschooler may have to climb lots of stairs, depending on where your seats are.

Sacramento fans are loud and may be too loud for your preschooler.

Professional basketball involves lots of time outs and may be hard for a preschooler to follow - resulting in a wiggly, bored preschooler

The concession food is not healthy.

Vendors walk around the seats selling foods that may be hard for your preschooler to resist demanding.

Recommendation of a King’s Game for a Preschooler

A King’s game may be fun for an older preschooler that has watched basketball on the television and has a family member that is a King’s fan.

Tips if you Plan on taking your Preschooler to a King’s Game

Consider getting cheap seats in case you have to leave early.

You may want to plan on only making it through about half the game, depending on your preschooler.

If your preschooler has an older sibling that they look up to, you may have an easier time keeping them from getting bored.

Be prepared to offer your preschooler something fun to eat from the concession stand. It will be hard for a preschooler to resist asking for food when they see the vendors and fans with lots of junk food.
Consider searching for an earlier timed game (perhaps on a Sunday) to prevent your preschooler from being up way past their bedtime.
